there isnt really any "best" special as far as i can tell. the basic only takes 30 energy, has a
good spread, and does at least some damage. the 2nd is a fireball, for 80 energy, and probably
does large damage to one enemy, so i would assume that would be your best bet for a boss killer.
3rd is a small brick wall that lasts like, 5 secs and absorbs all shots. generally worthless
unless you've got basically nothing but rats on the screen. 4th you've got probably the most
useful one special in the game. this summons the little girl from the pre-loader, and it attracts
all shots to her, and keeps the yellow flying things from firing at all. abuse it.

oh right, the little girl summon is 350 energy. 5th is a 1-shot barrier for 150 energy. in this
game, basically an energy dump.
6th, and last, is a fullscreen explosion for 500 energy. if you got a shitload of energy, knock
yourself out. seems to keep the flying yellow things from spawning for a lil anyways.

Lolianne does indeed work on the boss. the problem is the whole 350 energy usage per cast. and
since you don't get any energy in the boss fight, you're better off with either the fire wave or
the fireball

Boss:
- starts in the middle
- moves left and throws knives
- moves right and throws knives
- moves to the middle
- shoots 2 spirals of black bullets (*)
- moves up and swipes sword down
- moves left and swipes sword down
- moves right and swipes sword down
- moves to the middle
- sprays black bullets everywhere (**)
- spawns 2 shadow copies that throw knives while the original swipes sword down (***)
- moves back to start position while throwing a knife
- starts again
(*) There's a blind spot at the bottom-left corner and up a bit.
(**) This is easy to dodge, because the boss is so far up the screen. Use this time to get cheap
shots.
(***) Stay near the bottom and move to the left and right sides of the screen, going up and back
down a bit at the edges. This evades everything.
Feel free to use your own strategy.

I worked out a strategy using the 80 energy fireball. Basically, you use it to blow up the yellow
flying thing whenever it spawns. Using this, you can build up energy while still staying
relatively safe (I had 87 health when I got to the boss) but the boss does 20 damage per slash
and Lolianne does not work against it. Combine it's huge range with your huge hitbox and you're
pretty much dead unless you go very, very slowly.
Fuck this game, seriously. There's a difference between hard and bullshit.
