The Daicon III and IV openings are the first and second animations Studio Gainax ever made, when
they were just a bunch of college animation students doing it for fun.
If you want a dramatized telling of how the studio came together (culminating in the production
of the shorts) I highly recommend the drama series Blue Blazes.

Made by the people who would later go on to form Gainax, very few of the original footage
survives intact. Hideaki Anno got expelled from university because he had been wasting too much
time making this.

iirc the production materials were all split up among the founding Gainax members, the majority
of which are no longer with the company.
Even without the ELO rights issue, a remaster is basically impossible at this point. There's a
very rare Laserdisc version, but iirc that's what the version you can find on Youtube is ripped
from already.
