Please explain. I don't like it when people make fun of me.
Stop.
Don't be mean just because I like to suck dicks.

Simply put, anonymous posting encourages a different type of humor and a different style of
posting.
Posting that encourages interesting or entertaining ideas. Tying your post to a consistent
identity will encourage social behavior like praising and belittling unpopular opinions. (Not
that social behavior is all bad, much of humanity's progress has been a result of social
behavior. But it's not all good and we don't want it here.)
Posting with a name when your identity has no bearing on the information is just asking for
people to judge you as a person, instead of judging your post itself, which is rightly very
offensive to some 4chan denizens.

Most of that was an argument against names that persist over multiple threads, like registered
names. But names or identifying ids that persist only through a single thread are still a small
identity that encourages a small amount of social behavior.
Eh... I guess it's okay.
Just by having an identifiable, scatterbrained and sorta purpley writing style and posting
several times in a row, I'm encouraging a little bit of social behavior so I guess I'm a
hypocrite anyway so just ignore me a form your own opinion.
(I certainly do have a preference for stirring up opinions and bringing up contradictory ideas.
What do you feel about that tendency of mine? Do you like it?)

It might be nice to have a "this is the same guy who posted >>345678" tag, just to identify if
the person posting to a long thread is new or continuing the discussion...

I'm all for IDs within a single thread, makes true discussion much easier. It also makes it so
that impersonating OP in some collaborative threads is impossible. As long as your ID shifts
between threads I'd be all for it.

>a long thread
The ID system currently in place is IP-based, which means that for the vast majority of people,
their ID will change regularly. What do you propose a better way to do this would be? Cookies can
easily be edited or, if you're too stupid to edit them, simply deleted. There's no reliable way
to have thread-based ID's that work reasonably well on both fast and slow boards.

This is only an argument against tripfags, which I agree should be removed. since IDs are not
persistent, they do not cause the problem you're describing, no do the compromise anonymity.

You seem to be confused, anon. He is suggesting that IDs work like they already (or used to?)
function on many boards. Every IP that posts in a thread is assigned an ID. That ID only exists
for as long as the thread does. The thread does not persist between threads or boards. There is
no way to check someone's past posts unless they've been constantly shitposting in that thread,
at which point they deserve any ridicule they get.
