Just going to point out, back in the day, drowning litters that could not be supported was a
practice. Usually they would be put in a sack, and submerged in a tub or stream for a few
minutes, long enough to know they are no longer alive. It was done in a way to be humane, and if
done shortly after birth you could argue they never really knew what was going on in the first
place.
I would never have the heart to do it myself, but I would argue that it's better than letting
them go feral because you haven't enough food for your family and dog, much less a whole litter
of a mutt breed that couldn't even be sold.
At least with the advent of widespread spaying and neutering this becomes less necessary of a
practice. What this girl is doing is not what was done back then.
