Any thoughts on what this song is actually about? lyrics never made much sense to me just like
something that sounded good so they went with it

Thats kinda how i feel a lot of music is. Reminds me of that one guy who did an upbeat song about
his wife leaving him and taking all his stuff to prove that nobody listened and just wanted to
dance to his shit

Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse once said that when he was younger he had a song he really liked,
that had a ton of emotional insight for him, but years later he read something from the artist
explaining in detail what the song was about. The artist's perception of the song was completely
different than his, but it kind of took over his original ideas and ruined the song's connection
for him.
So, he tries not to write about anything too lucid or ever explain his songs. That way everyone
can just let whatever clicks, click.

so according to wikipedia the song is about the dumbing down of society by mass media, the
windmill is Feel Good Inc, where all the bodies are in a docile state of feeling good, but not
questioning their surroundings. 2d (the lead singer) is trying to wake everyone up with a
megaphone, and DeLaSoul (the rapper) represents the captain of the ship mocking 2d for his
actions. 2d is eventually is defeated, returning to his mantra of "feel good," ending the video
features themes of isolation, escapism

Nah see I don't like that.

This raises a good question... do music need to make sense or just "feel good"?

Art doesn't need to anything ever, but it always does.

ive been thinking about this for years and i still cant get it right, honetsly, the best i can
come up with is that 2d wants to lead everyone to that wonderful land where the windmill is, and
that life is good and carefree there.
but de la soul has them all how he wants them, and we are all paralysed, de la soul even gets 2d
in the end, bringing him in line with how he wants us all to be. he offers 2d something to get
him on his side, and 2d caves, sort of thing.
i think where de la soul says "with your sound you kill the inc" he reveals that 2d could topple
the feel good inc, the boogeyman who has us all paralysed, which is why he tries so hard to
change the tune that 2d is singing
i like to think that noodle, away on her windmill just chilling, is meant to be some
representation of the good life that 2d wants us all to reach, there's no bass line when she is
doing her thing, just having a nice time playing her guitar
also aways loved the way that the video for el manana follows on from this, but that song is
about a lost love, i dont think it has anything to do with feel good inc otherwise
