/f/ has a high bandwidth to user ratio,
and 4chan is losing profits to keep itself up,
in short, bye bye /po/, /f/, /s4s/, etc

But in the grand scheme of things it makes no sense to remove smaller/slower boards since they
would hardly make a dent in the overall bandwidth of the site (like /po/, it might be wicked
fucking slow but removing it would do nothing). Cutting boards might be the absolute last option
Hiro might take.

the /b/ boards (/pol/, /s4s/, /r9k/, /b/) will likely get unified to a super board
why remove slow boards, as >>3158310 said

>>3158311
Merging boards also seems unlikely since it doesn't actually help the bandwidth problem either,
nothing changes since the number of users remains roughly the same(it would also move lightning
fast and threads would reach page 10 in under a minute with those boards combined.)

Hiro made a post about financial troubles in /qa/ a couple of days ago and he listed 3 options
(the one that people assume was chosen involved 4chan pass which is why more people have decided
to purchase one). Being who we are we prepared for the option which included closing boards,
limiting file sizes, and one other thing. I'd tell you to check /qa/ right now but its filled
with threads like "Why should we remove /board/", "How do we fix 4chan", and so on. All we can do
at this point is carry on and wait until Hiro gives us more info.
>> [_] Anonymous 10/04/16(Tue)02:08:59 No.3158331
Surely he can't kill /f/, this is the last fragment of what 4chan used to be...
He can't, right?
Guys...?

>>3158331
No it's fucking not. /f/ is nothing like it used to be. /f/ is just a glorified /youtube/ now.
Hardly anyone even posts loops. /f/ is just the last fragment of what you understood 4chan to be,
presumably, starting in 2012.

>By then, it may be too late, anon
Well the general consensus is to go over to swfchan if /f/ is killed. That's part of the reason
that you can even post over there.

>Hardly anyone even posts loops.
But people do still post them so you can go fuck yourself sideways and light yourself on fire if
you think deleting /f/ is a good idea.
Delete fucking /soc/ and ban porn dumps on /b/.
Lower some filesize limits if it's that big of a deal.
Take some donations. moot was reserved about it but Hiro probably isnt.
Hiro brought this on himself, really. He bought a site he knew nothing about and tried to make
money off of it.
4chan was never meant to make money. moot always broke even or even ran the site at a loss.
Hiro probably isnt even in financial trouble. He's probably freaking out because the site isnt
making him a shitload of cash like he thought it would. It's probably costing him money.

That's actually something I was wondering about.
Will HTML5 be able to emulate flash?
Or are we going to have to recreate our loops in another medium?
The thing about Flash is that it still offers dynamic content that HTML5 doesnt, or people just
arent using it that way yet.
Flash is still available to use on Adobe's site.
If it were to disappear we'd know ahead of time, but what would we move on to?
It'd be interesting to see /f/ go to some kind of YTMND format where you would post an image and
sound and perhaps even submit code that people could use. Maybe in the form of a .rar file?
I really know fuck all about HTML5 but a lot of our content goes beyond looping video.

>>3158339
I mean it's pretty old, since 1999 or something.
I don't think that flash will die until:
Every large place which hosts flash content dies / stops supporting flash, this includes flash
games sites that still are popular / make new games such as Newgrounds, Armor Games, Miniclip and
Nitrome, /f/, swfchan and places like z0r.de
Every (furry) porn animator dies and all of their work is dead
Adobe stops providing flash player and tries to take down any binaries that it finds.
>>3158344
>HTML5 is a markup language used for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. It
is the fifth and current version of the HTML standard.
I have a hunch it doesn't naively support vector animations.
If anything I'd keep flash alive, probably pick up a torrent just to make sure people can get a
player.

>We should systematically execute every remnant of better times and remove any and all
opportunity for high-quality content (also dying, outdated) to be posted
>Because it's old and I don't like old things
might as well nuke every board other than /b/, /v/ and /pol/, then!
>>3158348
Flash being attached to Adobe and an integral part of internet history gives it free reign, you
should be able to get one of several native flash creators people actually used in 2005 through
"totally legitimate" means, and easily get a modern and fully functional flash player through
legitimate means.
The only thing flash is missing today is attention and creators making content, and despite all
appearances, there ARE enough people who care to make something good, they just don't or can't.
