Martin Shkreli is the owner of a pharmaceutical company who made national headlines a while back
for jacking up the price of what was once an easy-to-afford prescription drug to cure a very rare
disease after buying out the original company and the rights to produce the drug.
People demonized him for raising the prices to unaffordable levels (even with insurance) and
being a smug jackhole about it. He's a smug asshole but he's very much an attention whore and he
knows it. And desu famalam I'd probably publicly shitpost all day too if I made the money he
makes.

Well here's the thing, that's always going to be the ultimate conundrum when it comes to 4chan:
Who should own it?
m00t was a faggot but he ran it well and was every bit a piece of 4chan until the last year or
two when he seemed to look past it.
Hiroshima seemed to do well with the transition but there's still concerns about personal
information and cash flow.
I doubt Shkreli is serious, but that does raise a lot of questions about how profitable 4chan
should be. It's best years were when it made little money and culture was self-contained and
small. People still complain about Captcha, and I fear the day when we'll have: 4chan, brought to
you by Burger King and Home Depot "Let's do something together".

I've always respected moot for not using popups. He said it himself that if he had done that he
could probably have afforded to buy an attack helicopter if he wanted to. Especially pre-2015,
when adblockers wasn't as common. Not many could resist that temptation.
I think Hiro is just trying to soften us up so that when he finally do implement popups people
will be all like "thank god we got to keep our board" instead of pissed off over the popups
filled with viruses.

m00t definitely always put 4chan and it's users first. I'm still very hurt by his switching in
allegiance near the end of his reign, but you can't ignore the fact that for nearly 10+ years he
managed to run a site with minimal outside intrusion, influence, or ad intrusion.
Still, with 4chan adspace being pushed and 4chan Pass now a thing, I kind of fear that it's only
a matter of time before 4chan becomes just another Facebook mess.
