I'm glad to see someone doing a caramelldansen banner though. I considered it (and did some
preliminary clean-up work for it >>>/qa/593959 ) but then I figured to scale it to 60px height
would make it too tiny. But it actually looks pretty decent, maybe I should have gone for it. I'm
not an /f/ regular, not since 2009 anyway. I would have gone with an Anon Partyhard theme with a
nostalgia bomb ensemble dance party (anon partyhard, caramelldansen, leekspin, maybe that fucking
cat...). Still surprised to recognize a couple of memes from so long ago, like the 3 submissions
with lolicatgirls...

nah, definitely not. the pass is a code you have to enter to unlock your device. it has nothing
to do with IPs (which would completely shaft mobile users or users with dynamic IP). also, since
they don't know if you already have a pass, they'll send you the code so you could pass it on as
well.
that they don't rely on IPs is even shown in the contest itself - each submission gets a unique
code/link to mange your submission.

I'm actually really glad 4chan's /f/ is not even like 7chan's (which would take a lot more
bandwith than having a second page I know) because boy oh boy it would really look deserted in
here
I mean there would be no daily reposts, no daily doses, no days dedicated to "memes", only one
thread dedicated to this, one thread dedicated to that, so on and so forth, it would just look
sterile, like imagine the movie Equiliubrium, everyone would have everything but at the same time
they'd miss that little something we have right now

i think this was a decent argument a couple of years ago. but now? /gif/ has thousands of webms
with sound. sure, they only go up to 4 MB, but each single thread has a 100 of them. and then
they go into the 7 day archive which currently holds 230 threads. arguably a single thread on
/gif/ uses up more memory and bandwidth than the whole /f/ page does.
it's definitely not a technical limitation. /f/ could be ten times larger and it probably
wouldn't change 4chan's use of bandwidth noticably.
