Apparently HTML5 can kind of sort of do it, but I've been worried about this lately myself.
There's nothing out there that parallels .swf format or Flash, but they're both dying a slow
death. I don't want to see loops go.

There isn't one that's exactly the same.
One of them is exactly like /f/ but it has a page 2 and a few different tags. Forgot it's name
though.
All of the other ones are not good enough because either they provide multiple flashes to a
thread or in swfchan's case they show previews (and have lots of aggressive ads).

It's not like the format is going anywhere, now with Adobe Animate.
It just loses its ubiquitousness getting shoved into everyone's face for the most simple
functions or stupid FLVs and getting exploited.
If you like loops, keep a standalone swf player.
If you like making loops, keep doing it brah.
