Just finished watching this yesterday and I had a blast with it.
The title is Key the metal idol.
Beware though as it is pretty slow and in the opinion of some (not mine) overstretched, but even
if you think that way the characters and mechporn (which I'd say is on par with patlabor) will
more than make up for it.
It does have another pretty big flaw but telling more would be spoiling and it does by no means
ruin the rest so I won't talk about it.
Oh to anyone that really likes well done villains watch dub if that's not a big point for you
stick to the sub because background characters are just plain bad on the english version.
