in the case of depression it's usually not that one day or event was particularly worse than
another. Usually it's just a split second decision made while suffering the effects of a mental
health problem. It's just an impulse, like making a bad purchase. Most people who take the plunge
pretty much immediately regret it. I survived a bridge jump and can definitely attest to it that
the second your feet leave the edge, you wish they hadn't. It's like once you've made the choice
and you're in the air you have a sudden moment of absolute clarity and understanding, with the
haze and blur of the depression lifted, and you realize it isn't worth it.
The lucky ones survive to learn from their mistake.

yeah. I suppose I should specify that the lucky ones survive and also don't do so as crippled
vegetables living their lives in pain but ironically unable to end it themselves.
I had a shit ton of broken bones, but was able to recover and pick myself up and do the things I
wanted to accomplish after I got help.
I suppose the bottom line is, suicide really shouldn't be attempted, at least not on the grounds
of depression or criminal capture. You either die with your last thoughts being on what a shitty
idea this was and that you actually want to live, or you live on in a state that shows you what
it REALLY means to want death.
I was the exception, not the rule. Living through the things that make us want death is hard, but
even living through hardship is more satisfying than the crushing regret you die with in a
suicide.
