I was unaware that there were any genders other than male of female, as the connotation of gender

Sex refers to biological genitalia, i.e. what you have between your legs. And that still has more
than two options because hermaphrodites exist in nature.
Gender refers to the social construct of acting like a woman or acting like a man or being
somewhere in-between.
