Back when this shit-tastic show was on I had the bright idea to print up a bunch of forms saying

I think it mostly has to do with some studio executives thinking it'd be great to create a
televised series to document the capturing of people with pedophilic tendencies, and the local
police stations thinking it'd be great to get some money and airtime while making an entrapment
look valid.
The problem I have with this is that, while I understand where the local PD is coming from, it
would be hard to really incarcerate someone who lawyers up. Doesn't even have to be a good lawyer
either. As far as I know, they can't lock you up for intent to perform acts with a minor
especially if there was no real minor involved.
