It's an extremely complex game about building a dwarf fortress. To give you an idea, there are 26
different metals for you to deal with, not counting the raw ores or gemstones, or non-metal
resources like wood.
It's famous for having one of the worst interfaces in about 30 years.

the interface is only bad if youre an idiot. It's quite easy to play you can literally do
anything. Build a giant obsidian skull that vomits cat blood... sure.

Are older tutorials still relevant to the current version of the game? DF is in more or less
constant development and those videos are at least half a decade old. I haven't played it in a
while so I honestly don't know.

Ugh.... games used to come with a booklet that served as a "wikipedia" for how to use the
interface.

I still always read instructions.
The more you play the more you can skip, but I learn a tidbit that's very useful and never
mentioned elsewhere nearly all the time.
Builds up anticipation for me.
Too bad most games have up to zero booklet nowadays...

not enjoying looking at text on a black background doesn't equal the person being an idiot. the
UI is the game's only flaw and I think everybody would agree the game would have more players if
it was fully graphical with animations (eye candy)
that being said i think dwarf fortress is one of the most impressive games ever created. im a
sucker for a good map generator and dwarf fortress worlds are very, very impressive
