I still don't get why moot put capatcha on /f/, there was basically zero actually automated spam
and threads were nearly always slow as fuck and basically fine without it.

There were a lot of bot spammers, specifically porn sites, that would post content. They would go
something along the lines of "Hey, that's cool, but check out this cool porn site instead!" Then
they would post an image of a nude female.
Captcha didn't do much to stop it, other than make people actually get paid to post links to
shitty, ad-filled, porn sites.

I said on /f/, not on the rest of the boards. /f/ didn't have capatcha for years after the rest
of the boards got it and I never recall it being a problem. Moot just put it on /f/ one day and
from as far as I could tell for no real reason ( or maybe it was to sell 4chan gold passes, can't
remember if this was before or after those)
