goddamn son. this shit is old news. there is a bug in chrome that won't allow running flash swfs
except when embedded in a webpage.
lurk fucking more

"anymore" as in I used to be able to. I stopped, sorry not sorry.
Thanks for the tip.

yeah, you used to be able to until chrome updated and broke functionality...
problem is they won't fix it because they're phasing out flash support anyway.
you're welcome.

...Yeah I kinda assumed that with HTML5 and all, works nicely in firefox though. G'day.
>> [_] Anonymous 12/30/17(Sat)06:18:44 No.3304648
how the fuck do you play swf in chrome then?
>> [_] Anonymous 12/30/17(Sat)06:20:09 No.3304650
>>3304648
use the embed feature or use another browser..
though, and I haven't personally tried it, in the link in >>3304646 there is a comment, #38, that
details a workaround.
you might try that.

I am using edge for my flash viewing now. Have to use chrome for webms though, but I expect them
to fuck that up at some point.

>>3304656
webms aren't going anywhere soon. they're part of the html5 movement

throw away chrome and change to firefox. it looks basically the same as chrome now and renders
just as fast as chrome but flash works and they don't spy the shit on out of your surfing. at
least give firefox quantum a chance, it really is just as good as people says it is. it takes 45
sec to install and you'll thank yourself later.
>> [_] Anonymous 12/30/17(Sat)11:15:02 No.3304672
Everybody here's saying to use Firefox but I use Firefox and I can't open swf files in that
either. When I click on links here it just opens up a download window, and I don't have any
programs that can play them.

1. Type about:addons in address bar.
2. Go to plugins.
3. Select "Always active" (or something like that) in Shockwave Flash.
4. Type about:config in address bar.
5. Search "autostart".
6. Click twice on "browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2"

I just installed flash player for firefox, worked for me.
>> [_] Anonymous 12/30/17(Sat)17:26:15 No.3304736
Use firefox ESR
also change: plugins.http_https_only to false in about:config
Set plugin.load_flash_only to false if you want to use java plugins or whatever
Lol at java update page, they just ASSUME I can't use java in firefox though I CAN actually use
it. What shitlords.

this is so strange, that it works for some and not for others. maybe you need to have installed
the ActiveX for flash (the "internet explorer version") to make it work in firefox?
>>3304736
im on normal firefox (57.0.3, non-ESR) and flash works for me

If swf's wont open, delete mimeTypes.rdf in AppData<Mozilla<Firefox<Profiles
i had this happen when swfs wouldnt suddenly open and it just keep asking to pick a program to
open them with. It will work
