basement-bound weeb spotted. That bell is a pretty standard indicator for many older schools and
churches. The local catholic church in my hometown had the same bell that could be heard all over
town. This is not an anime thing, just because its the only place you've heard it.

I'd consider it important. Because it tells you if it was an anime thing invented by those
creators, or if it is based on real life, in which case it's not overused but just realistic.
