Trick that I discovered is to be aggressive and always try to get as many places as you can.
Always attack a place that has equal or less dice than one of yours next to it. The computer does
the same thing, and every time I tried to play it safe, the computer always ended up with more
dice than me after every turn and was eventually able to crush me.
