It's 100% pure luck. It's impossible unless you get a fortuitous pattern of dots at the start,
and then it's extremely simple.

No it isn't. Put a dot on the side with the lowest number of dots, then see where the cat goes.
Continue to place dots on that edge, leaving an open spot each time, until the cat is near enough
to almost get out, then fill in the gaps, so that he keeps running for a door he can't get
through in time. Then you just go around like this and cage him in.
It's just a matter of exploiting the AI. It picks an arbitrary hole, and will continue towards it
so long as it remains a clear path. It doesn't consider your setting a trap.
