How does one play mahjong? I'm trying to get same suit straights and repeated cards, and
sometimes I make "moves". Once I could make a ron (supposedly to winrar) but it complained with
Furi-Ten so I could only make a pon

i used to not suck at this. as i recall, playing pon isn' t advisable in most situations, what
you really want is ron and richi, i just dont remember how it actually works

I looked in wikipedia and I got the idea (won two rounds). However, it doesn't explain riichi,
only chii

pon = three of a kind (you can get it when anyone plays something that will complete your three
of a kind). Then must play a card out.
chii = straight, the card must be played by the guy before you (ie. the left dude). Is a sequence
of 3 in any suit. Then must play a card out.
I dont know jap style mahjong, so i can't really help with the names

So the point of the game is to complete your set of tiles. You do so by either drawing a tile
that you want, or by getting it from someone else (through a pon, chii, etc).
In the end, all your tiles must be in some form of combo like pon or chii. PLUS you must have 2
of the same tile as well. (These are called 'eyes')
Combos include:
3 of a kind - get from anyone at any time
straight - 3 ordered tiles in the same suit, can only be gotten from the guy before you, or from
drawing it
4 of a kind - works the same as 3 of a kind, but you will get a tile after, instead of having to
play one
Hope this helps!

Protip: throw away tiles of the suit that you have the least of. (suits come in lines, circles,
and ten-thousands [the ones with the numbers on them])
Try to keep the ones that are not part of any suit. Like the blank tile, the north/south/east/west
tiles, and two other asian character tiles. You can only pon these. Think of them as bonus points.
Try to make it so that you can win with more than one tile. For example, if you have 2 X tiles
and 2 Y tiles. You can win when either tile is played because then the other tile becomes the
'eyes'.
