I sometimes wonder if things would've happened differently if people didn't persecute the
2008-2011 newfags. Like...if there was less backlash maybe something of the sites culture
could've been preserved. It feels like /f/ is the only board that has retained anything...

There are many different possibilities that could have been, and the reasons why /f/ is the
hermitage of 4chan should be relatively obvious.
Even back in 2008 most people had already realized that doing nothing but complaining about the
'cancer' actually was part of the cancer, but I can't say OC was a total solution because it has
been inferior for a very long time.
Was there a solution? Probably not, and I'm okay with that. If anything it's been an incentive
for anonymous to finally leave the basement. Maybe not daily, but at least once in a blue moon.
