won't be long before we're all lurking /f/ less.
Weekly reminder, Flash is being executed.
Get your Sunday Best on, and come gather at the gallows...

its not remotely as conducive to an /f/-like board.
If we ever get it set up, it'll 1. only really be able to take things specifically made for
uploading to /html5/ and 2. will be quite a while in implementing. I know the flash creator (or
more accurately flash hosting) community started on it almost as soon as the announcement went
out. But I've also heard no real progress from any of the websites involved, and we're halfway to
the hard deadline of no support at all, probably even earlier before we start losing chunks of
functionality, You already have to forcibly enable flash in chrome by going into devmenu, and for
a long while (better part of a year) it wouldn't play in in-private mode.no matter what you did.
Avoiding accidentally breaking it isn't a priority to them. 'If it stays running, fine, it's got
until the end of 2020, if a browser patch happens to break it before then, eh, we're in no hurry
to fix it.'

you mean /wsg/, it already exists.
It's NO replacement.

you people sound like a broken fucking record.
just because Adobe is dropping support doesn't mean people will stop coding for it.

I wonder what will happen to the /f/ board though.
Fingers crossed that just nobody will give a fuck and maybe Hiroshimoot even forgot he has one in
the first place.
We just have to SPAM the fuck out of the feedback page.
Maybe they will just abide and let /f/ stay where it is for the like 10 people that will continue
to browse it. It's not like it costs a lot of resources.

probably a big problem for an actual /ht5/ board would be the fact that more often than not,
there isn't just a single .html file, like with a single .swf
it's like with those preloader flashes all over again
kinda hard, but possible I think, to take all resources into a single file, so it would need some
kind of packing, unpacking mechanism, that is supported by browsers, maybe Node JS, and also be
secure
that's A LOT of work compared to just let /f/ be plugged in
>> [_] Anonymous 02/20/19(Wed)07:18:29 No.3381785
Ill probably kill myself the day I can no longer come to /f/
>> [_] Anonymous 02/20/19(Wed)09:22:53 No.3381792
Maybe we could get a few motivated devs to fork and continue work on Mozilla's Shumway project,
which could run .swf files without plugins, basically just using a shitload of JavaScript and the
HTML5 canvas element.
It was actually becoming somewhat useful and was able to play most simple vector animations and
videos (most of what we need for /f/), before they decided to refactor it, broke everything, then
just decided to fucking drop the project "because flash is dying anyway".... which is stupid
because that's exactly why they SHOULD continue, so that when flash does die, we have a safe
reliable way to access legacy content, regardless of whether anything new is produced or not. I
even tried to join in and fix a few bugs here and there but they decided to say fuck it shortly
before I could make sense of their cluserfuck build system (why the fuck would you compile
another language nobody knows into JavaScript instead of just writing the JS directly?)

if /f/ dies wouldn't swfchan still be up? even if there's no in-browser support eventually
someone out there is going to want to write extensions for them or do something like >>3381792,
so sites like that could stay up as monuments to a bygone era, right? it seems to me like a
plausible new haven as disgusting as the site layout is
