how big was vault 101 anyway? was there even enough people for it to realistically develop groups
such as tunnel snakes?

The whole vault was something like 30 people.
You could propably chalk it up to bethshit engine already falling apart under pressure of having
5 npcs on screen, and there's a bunch of inaccessible doors that could lead deeper into the
vault. Some vaults are stated to be around 1000 people strong, iirc.

at 1k i guess it would make sense for groups like this to be created. but the vaults would need
to be absolutely huge then, especially including food facilities. i'd love to see a 1k people
vault, they wouldn't be able to look like all the vaults you see in the games where everybody
gets their own room or just share one room with three others

they were in the original series, but the Fallout 3 and onward engines are incapable of
supporting it. so the got smol instead of the vault cities we had in 1 and 2
