please explain to me how these two words makes a very clear difference between the vertical and
diagonal transportation styles. i am obviously a brainlet because i think elevate and escalate
means pretty much the exact same thing.

"Elevate" means going straight up ("His performance elevated an otherwise awful movie") and
"escalate" means slowly accumulating to reach a higher point ("The line on this graph represents
the escalating crime.")
