Playing some They Are Billions this Friday.
Tried The Outer Worlds but didn't like it. Too much box-checking by the devs. You can tell it's
not by the same people that made Fallout New Vegas. Might be the same company but the people that
made New Vegas must have left.

How is They Are Billions? Worth picking up?

yes, it's worth. but i wish pathfinding was better. there are also "hero missions" where you
don't build a base, which i'm not a fan of. but i still recommend the game.
it's a pretty hard too, several times i've felt confident in my base but then the zombies still
manage to overrun me and i have to retry the map (you can't load previous saves so if you fail
you have to start it over). i've only played at most difficulty 2 missions (out of 5) and have
only 50% zombies, still hard! i don't think i suck either, it just takes time to learn what works
and what doesn't work. you can also spend "empire points" to unlock improvements and new
buildings, meaning the campaign doesn't play the same for everybody.

Damn, haven't played that game in a while. One of my favourites. Large city/base building games
with hordes coming from all sides are always fun.

they should drop the large population requirements from the campaign though, many of the maps
seem to end with me spamming food production and cottages just to reach 1000 population before
the time limit. after all zombies are dead and gone. that's not fun, the objectives should just
be to survive all the waves or kill all the zombies on the map.
if reaching 1000 population is actually needed for some player to survive that it's fine but
otherwise it shouldn't matter if you can play so well to finish with just 300 population or
whatever.

I'm still finishing my first run of Deus Ex.
In Paris, at 46 hours so far. Will probably be done soon.
