[_] How do I sync stuff better? Anonymous 04/20/20(Mon)20:58:48 No.3425676
Does anyone have any sort of trick to make things sync to music easier? I specifically wanted the
waves to be tighter to the beat.

A higher framerate gives your more precision. CPUs these days should be capable of keeping the
right fps.
Put the song in the main timeline as streaming audio to be able to check of it syncs in flash.
Add/remove frames to sync stuff.
Just remember to remove the streaming audio and make it "audio start" again after you're happy
with how it looks.
To make it sync perfectly you may need to use ActionScript and make sure X frame happens on X
millisecond in the repeating audio.

I'll add a trick that Weebl used to do in his flashes:
He had the music as "audio start" and added a silent audio stream on the main timeline.
That way the music repeated seamlessly but flash synced the visuals to the audio, framskipping if
need be.
So it stayed in sync with the "audio start" music for several loops.

OH FUCK I didn't even think of changing the framerate. Also do you have an example of what the
actionscript for that would look like? Thanks regardless!

I can't remember any ActionScript 3 code, don't have any at hand, sorry. I think the gist of it
is starting the audio clip using code and can then check the milliseconds of the playing audio,
adapting either the framerate to how off it is to where it should be, or you just set the frame
directly to where it should be.

I'll have to decompile one of his flashes so I can understand that better, my brain is besmoothed

It's baiscally just a normal flash loop but you also add streaming audio with silence.
At least that's how I figure he did it when I decompiled some of his flash loops 8 years ago.
