[_] swfchan's down again Anonymous 11/21/19(Thu)07:55:12 No.3409330
anyone knows what's with these frequent outages that have been happening lately?

might be them getting a lot more traffic due to people speading fear about flash dying
just looked at google search trends for swfchan, it's really spiked a shit ton, and that doesnt
even count directly going to the site, so that's probably it

it's just the server's internet connectivity acting up, sorry about that.

if only that was true, the site traffic is at an all time low and dropping further. returning IPs
are at an all time high so few new people are visiting the site, for years it used to be at 60%
now it's at 75%.
i collect my own stats here: http://eye.swfchan.com/services/insight/stats.asp
everything is to be taken with a grain of salt except the monthly averages at the bottom, those
number are gathered from GET FILE button presses (when the page is generated server-side) and not
from a mix between javascript and server-side so the downward view trend is reliable information.
if i remember correctly the unique daily visitors are currently at around half of what it was
five years ago. this info isn't visible on the stats page, the downward view trend doesn't
reflect the site's unique visitors. the people that do visit just don't press the GET FILE button
as much as they used to, probably some that just check .org for new posts.
the site's recent uptime can be seen by looking at the bars to the right of "gets in the last
1+24 hours". there was a bigger 14h gap 6 days ago but usually it's less than six hours.
typically only affects incoming connections so the site should at least continue to archive while
it's inaccessible.
