I choose to believe he did it on purpose (although I know he probably didn't, since he said it
was his first flash).
There's no second chance at life, no going back. You don't feel you were done listening, and you
wish you could hear the song again? You're gonna carry that weight.

have to say that i find it weird that what's included in "retro gaming" changes. there's a big
step between playstation 1 and 2 (or the original xbox1, the "classic" xbox as they call it.
still dont understand how microsoft could decide to name xbox3 xbox1)
anyway, the differences between generations will be smaller and smaller, maybe they even
disappear some day and you just own a system that you can upgrade. not to be confused with a pc
because youll not be able to do everything on your "system".
so my point is in 50 years we say that playstation 5 is retro it doesn't really mean anything,
just that it's old. retro gaming to me has always felt like it isn't part of the modern era.
i guess internet could be an acceptable cutoff... PS2, original Xbox and GameCube supported
internet but you weren't expected to be online. in modern gaming you are unfortunately expected
to have internet access.
with PS3 and Wii sony and nintendo started to expect people to be online. microsoft already
expected most people to be online with xbox360. today, if a customer isn't online they just
discard him. they don't care about that small part of the market.

this post was hard to write, i kinda jumped back and forth between PS2=retro as okay and not
okay. is expected internet access a good cutoff?
to be honest when i hear "retro" i always meant to me non-3D games, meaning PSX or N64 isn't
retro since they support 3D games. though i guess arcade games from the early 90s that supported
3D are also retro so that definition is a little off.
naw man, i think imma flipflop again, PS2 does not feel like retro... the difference between PS1
and PS2 was too great, same with the difference between N64 and GC. it was the perfect cutoff for
"retro".
wasn't claiming that PS2 is retro a meme anyway? strange of 4chan to make that post all of a
sudden.

>Updating the /vr/ Sticky and Rules
>With the coming release of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, we think it's time to update
/vr/'s definition of 'retro' to include the remainder of the Sixth Generation consoles: the
classic Xbox, the PlayStation 2, and the GameCube, as well as other contemporary games.
>This is not as easy as it might seem, as the PlayStation 2 was getting new game titles for a
whopping 13 years, and simply moving the year cut-off would encompass too many recent games as to
reasonably be considered 'retro'.
>The easiest way to resolve this seems to be having two year cut-offs instead of one: one for the
platform itself, and another for game titles. This would of course apply to PC games as well.
PS2 got games for 13 years. so what, we're not allowed to consider the later PS2 games retro,
just the early ones? even though the hardware was the same? honestly it's just confusing to
include that generation.

I think most of us thought of /vr/ as an era, a specific, locked period in time. Not just
whatever happened to be 20 years ago at any given time.
Not to mention that by allowing platform progression they will eventually turn /vr/ into the 2013
/v/ that necessitated the creation of /vr/ in the first place. I mean, PS3 has no games, so by
allowing PS2 we are already 90% there.
The spam of 5th gen threads already made it hard to have discussion of 4th gen consoles without
having them fall off the board, not to mention discussion of individual games was almost
impossible outside of specific titles like Chrono Trigger.
/vr/ needed to be slow to survive and thrive, trying to increase traffic just ultimately defeats
the purpose of the entire board.
I really hope they reconsider and give us a proper /vr/, without 3D this time.
