  I dunno what to suggest other than to disable updates through your registry and re-download a
  version of flash for your desired browser (if you can even find one, you might check Adobe's
  website, but I doubt it'll be there at this point...maybe on Megaupload or a similar file sharing
  service)

  I had a link with a how-to on disabling Windows update perminately through the registry, I'll see
  if I can find it.

  Any version past that won't work January 12th.
  You install 371, you disable automatic updates, and you're safe to continue using flash. The only
  thing you'll have to worry about is the inevitability of your browser actively blocking the
  plugin from running, and that's something that's already starting to happen with some of them.

  How to defuse the timebomb in flash

  Use a hex editor to search for the hex string:
  00 00 40 46 3E 6F 77 42

  And replace it with:
  00 00 00 00 00 00 F8 7F

  OCX files are write-protected so you will need to rename and copy, or take ownership of them as

  I tried :( I don't have NPSWF or pepflashplayer in my files, only 2 of the files in the Sys32 and
  SysWOW Flash folders had the hex string that had to be changed. I saved copies as .bak on my
  desktop. Tried to paste into respective files as admin and it says access denied.

  You need to set yourself as the owner of the files in question. Search 'windows change file
  ownership' or something of the like, you'll find plenty of guides. After that, you can edit the
  files right in their directory without having to copy them out (though I would anyway, just in
  case).

  This is why I've switched to the standalone player only. Modern browsers are all bloated trash
  that lag, hog gigabytes of memory and STILL fucking have memory leaks out the ass in 2021.
