don't go to the new Virtual YouTubers board. it's chock full of simps worshiping voices of people
they don't know the appearance of and they keep posting really mundane video clips but act like
they are handing out ambrosia. no wonder they needed to be contained.

What if you don't give them money?

giving them views or attention is almost as bad
i guess if you download the videos from a mirror that does not track download count or view count
+ do not talk about them + do not give money to them + do not visit their chat or interact with
them in any way, then it's "ok"

I didn't even know about this virtual Youtuber phenomenon until there was a board about it. I
thought it was going to be a board about Pewdewpie until I clicked in and saw all these anime
chicks.
So is the whole thing just Japanese guys turning on motion tracking 3D models, and being kawaii
while playing videogames?

the worst part is that big companies own most of the characters and the girls rent them + gear
from the company
so if she stops in the future the company still owns the character and you better believe that
they will just hire some other girl to continue the dystopian nightmare without most of her fans
even noticing. especially if they are able to use AI to change the new actress' voice to the old
girl's voice.
very healthy future we've got here.

>very healthy future we've got here.
Just sounds like regular television to me, the girl is just playing a role given by a company
just like a TV host or voice actor getting assigned a role. Its not individual like LPs were in
2010. We already know YouTube is trying desperately to imitate television.

and there's STILL no e-celeb board

And praise the mods for that!
At least /vt/ is primarily discussion towards the characters and not the attentionwhore behind
them.

should have just been a "celebs" board. 95% of the threads would have been virtual youtubers
anyway.

i wondered why they made a virtual youtuber board instead of just /incel/ so that every eceleb
thread gets posted there instead of /v/

the mods rarely do anything unless they're personally offended. in this case some /jp mod was
probably mad that his board was being overrun with vtube crap. so you'll need to really piss off
a mod with e-celeb spamming if you ever want a containment board for that.

but at least a host is a recognizable human being and therefore has some branding and leverage
over things
the Vtubers are literally disposable cogs in a machine that can be swapped without anyone caring
or even knowing

Kizuna AI proved that people support the actor, not the character after her originally company
dumped and replaced her.
