depends on your viewing resolution and cpu, but maybe the blur being wider than taller makes the
calculations simpler.
seems like only anon is getting blurred so the effect only affects part of the screen.
maybe the calculations are quicker because there's not so much complex shapes/colors in the
background.
overlapping blur effects probably requires a lot more calculations, if only anon is blurred
there's no overlapping calculations
