[_] My cat died today... Anonymous 10/30/21(Sat)12:26:48 No.3475200
I had to put her down. She had a very advance form of cancer in the spleen. Hardest thing I had
to do today. She was with me for half my life.
Marked for deletion (old).

She was fourteen. I had her when I was in the fifth grade.

then she had a long and presumably a fulfilled life. as Dr Seuss once said "Don't cry because
it's over. Smile because it happened".

That doesn't make me upset. She lived past her life expectancy of twelve which was the
established thing at the time we got her. What makes me upset is that she was suffering for more
than a year and a half with that cancer and we never realized it until today. She was a vomiting
from time to time and meowing in pain whenever we carried her. I always though the vomiting was
just a natural thing and thought it was her old joints hurting when we lifted her.

I know a visit to the vet is not cheap but why didn't you have a check up done for such symptoms?

I wasn't very specific in the time to time part, but like every couple of months time to time.
Not close enough for it to cause too much concern plus a couple of months back I had the vet give
her a check up and they didn't find anything that would have them assume it was cancer. We all
thought it was just one of those normal cat things.

I'm sorry for your lost.
By the way, I found something interesting. I was browsing archived snapshots of /f/ on
archive.today (there were just 5) and look what I found: https://archive.md/SIcoI. Look at the
third flash. Somebody had a similarly sad day and it was archived randomly.
