i've been using swfmax to play my swfs, and it's been pretty seamless so far, but it doesn't seem
to read any swfs with japanese characters or other moonrunes in the filename. the swf immediately
plays if i change the name to all english.
would really like to not have to rename a good third of my swf collection — is there any fix for
this? or another currently functional swf player without this issue?

The standalone projector plays them all just fine. I don't have it on hand but there's a link in
the archives.

Sounds like you need to run it or your OS in japanese locale.
Easier to just run whole OS in jap locale, almost every other country makes unicode software that
works regardless of locale.

The StandAlone Adobe Flash Player 29.0 works for me, maybe use the WayBack Machine if you can't
find it using Google.

does that have a seekbar or some other special feature?
otherwise i see no reason to use anything except adobe's offline projector as a swf player

Curious. What else could cause it to fail to load japanese filenames...?
Anyways, I also use Adobe's standalone flash player/projector without any issues.

in MacOS

I said yesterday that I tested a flash with a Japanese filename with swfmax in a Japanese virtual
machine and that it was not playable. I must have been unlucky because I tried the same test
again only with multiple files.

https://i.imgur.com/fIAc5G4.png -> works
https://i.imgur.com/pC7tRDA.png -> doesn't work with swfmax

https://i.imgur.com/Oug7bTu.png -> doesn't work for me
copy pasted the filename to some random Flash

No idea why the software has problems with certain files. Either way, I would not recommend the
software.
when you finally find that one song.swf -> plays/loops music multiple times
OkuuDance.swf -> doesn't loop
Into The Light.swf -> doesn't loop
kuu ja kaljaa.swf -> doesn't loop
and much more
I will continue to use the standalone player. best option.

it has a seekbar but for me it doesnt work on looped swfs and ones that require you to press a
button to start the swf
