Removal of native flash compatibility breaking old flashes
Flashes were more popular in the past because video sucked ass, which is sucks slightly less now
People who made flashes just release on Youtube now if they wanted to make something
I personally prefer the fluid feeling of flash files as opposed to rastered pixels, but it's all
ogre now, anon

i would still be active on /f/ if i could actually still play flash files, tried a few third
party flash players but they dont seem to work on most files i'd like to play and when they do
actually do something theres a good 80% chance its still broken. flash gaming was my hobby up
until a few years ago, now i just mostly stare at a wall. i seen a few rumors of something about
loading up an old version of flash player from wayback machine and using some other browser
called waterfox or something but it all sounded pretty sketch and i havent looked into it
further, anybody doing that wants to comment i'd be interested in hearing about it.

It's not the same but I like the standalone flash player a lot more than running outdated
browsers or using ruffle, especially for flash games. You can just copy paste the 4chan url and
play it locally.
I grabbed it from adobe just before they took it off their site so not sketch at all but those
are gone now. There are also versions of the standalone player on the internet archive and if you
don't trust them here's the sha512 of the x86_64 linux tar file: e67eedea0d09ae19dc9d4

The standalone player from waybackmachine is the best alternative I have come across.

Here's a direct download to the standalone flash player for Windows. It doesn't have the
killswitch on it, so it should work on even the latest version of Windows. Just do like what >>3

said and copy paste the /f/ URLs into the player.

you know not all browsers have flash support disabled
like I use pale moon and just open shit like I always have, no need for ruffle or standalone
flash players or anything
if you don't want to switch your browser entirely you could still just dl a different one solely
for the purpose of browsing /f/

Seconding pale moon, shit just werks. Theres a post about it in the archive, why we don't have
this shit stickied is beyond me

mods don't care about /f/
if they did they'd have a sticky or some better equivalent (like an announcement only up on /f/)
explaining methods of viewing swfs, from other browsers to ruffle etc
