i recommend against marriage. depends on country but in the west the social contract of marriage
is broken: it's super easy to get a divorce, nobody thinks worse of the man/woman after the
divorce, and nobody equates cheating on your spouse with burning in hell anymore. there's little
point, only complicates a breakup and costs you half your stuff. you can be together with someone
and have children and build a life without the burden of marriage. you can put on rings to signal
your "taken" status and symbolize your love without any legal paper. you can even have a ceremony
for it with friends and family outside the system.
easy to say if your woman is hellbent on a real marriage but that's my 2 cents. marriage is a
especially bad deal for men since the social value goes down for women over time while it goes up
for men. with divorce being so easy there's no reason to get married until you've been together
for 30-40 years and just want to solidify legal matters regarding inheritance.

my brother went through hell as well, been together with a girl for 10 years and decided to marry
her, after 2 years they had a kid and after 2 years she filed for a divorce. It took another year
to get the divorce done because she demanded too much alimony. It took another year after the
court settled it.
My uncle has been living with the same woman for 30 years now without marrying her or getting her
pregnant. Do they cheat on each other? Maybe. She takes care of the place while he brings in the
money, but he couldn't be happier
