It DOES seem to have gotten co-opted by subhuman coomers, but I don't see how the style in and of
itself could be seen as inherently porn-like...

I believe that, using some standard of measure for the lewdness of an illustration, you will
easily find that anime-style drawings would average out a higher level of lewdness as compared to
many other (popular, Western-world originating, non-pornographic) styles of drawing, given that
popularity of skimpy clothing and other elements of suggestiveness.

It's less of what elements define an art style, and more of general trends within the social
realm of the artists who use that style, which influence the art produced.
