so how do I make ruffle play in background?
when I switch to other tab it just mutes itself, which is annoying

It's not a bug, it's a feature. The solution is to open the applicable flash in its own window
instead of a new tab.

the thing is when I maximize any window over it, it just mutes again so I don't get your point

put this code into the browser console or make a userscript with it:
https://sqa.stackexchange.com/questions/32152/#32355
it tricks tabs into thinking they're visible at all times so they never auto-suspend

Download the ruffle source code from https://github.com/ruffle-rs/ruffle
Remove the "visibilitychange" event listener from ruffle/web/packages/core/src/internal/play
er/inner.tsx and then build the web extension from source following the instructions given on the
repo page.

brainfart
meant firefox

you probably pasted it into the search bar or something. try to figure out how to run scripts
from the console. it works on firefox and chrome just the same, also as a userscript without any
modifications. just copy and paste

I know how to use the console anon ):
Don't hurt my fee-fees
Simply copy pasting it doesn't work

>>3523796
did you press enter (or ctrl+enter) after pasting to actually execute the code? did the console
belong to the same tab where ruffle is active? did you refresh after running it (refreshing gives
you a fresh document object where the previous modifications don't apply anymore)

Yep, yep and no.
I often debug web apps to get what I need from them so I know my competency isn't the issue here.
My firefox version is 137.0 if that helps somehow.

it must then be related to iframes. do you use 4chan's own embedding feature? after opening the
flash, look for selection that says "Top" somewhere near the console box (for me it's next to the
"Run" button). it should have a drop-down option called "4chan". switch to that one and run the
script, then it should apply to the sub-document where ruffle is located.

I see. Yeah that works, Thanks anon. How do I switch context like that in a userscript?

OP here this works
unfortunately I have to reapply the code every time I refresh or open a new flash

looks like just @matching the embed's source (s.4cdn.org) works. like this:
// ==UserScript==
// @name Ruffle
// @match https://s.4cdn.org/*
// ==/UserScript==
Object.defineProperty(document, 'visibilityState', {value: 'visible', writable: true});
Object.defineProperty(document, 'hidden', {value: false, writable: true});
document.dispatchEvent(new Event("visibilitychange"));
>>3523806
load the above code as a userscript, for which you need a plugin. this page lists a bunch of
options:
