It did be one of the very first Slice of Life animes.
The concept was fresh, so they could distinguish it well by focusing extremely on puritan slice
of life, like girls talking during school break or whatever.
Later when the genre got bigger, I guess they had to mix things up again and put more action or
whatever setpieces back into it, so this looks tame by today's comparison.
