[_] [G] Rare monster quest bugfix OP !8nHncBHSeM 09/30/10(Thu)07:42 No.1385725
This mini-update should fix an issue which seemed to annoy a lot of people. Quests can no longer
specify which particular monsters you should kill. Fully compatible with all post-2.0 characters.
Also some other things
>> [_] OP !8nHncBHSeM 09/30/10(Thu)07:50 No.1385727
Also, somebody's going to ask why I didn't just make it name common monsters, so here's why:
1) this was simpler
2) this update releases all characters who were stuck in such a quest from it. That wouldn't have

god damn it it takes forever to kill an 90k hp monster, even for a wizard
is smite more effective than fireball?

>>1385753
OP's said repeatedly he won't post spoilers, so you'll probably have no luck there. From my
experiments in 2.0 beta smite seems to do more damage at early levels, take that any way you
like. Necros also seem to do more damage than wizards.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)09:24 No.1385763
>>1385758
Necros don't really get more damage, they can just cast any spell like a high level fireball more
times due to getting more mana.

People don't really play priests due to how much they used to suck.

Well, the deal with Trick Shot is that it uses more than just str to determine damage, so as long
as it uses dex a hobbit cowboy could actually be viable.

Anybody up for starting an unofficial wiki for this shit? Now we have the info spread over dozens

>> [_] Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)09:49 No.1385777
>>1385773
I haven't done any real testing since v2.0, and OP isn't telling; all we know is that OP said
Trick Shot uses tricky things to figure damage instead of just str like every other melee attack;
it's entirely possible that it uses dex, or it could use cha, or maybe it gains damage the higher
your regen spell level is, who knows?

>>1385775
A wiki would be a bit silly, since the whole point of the game is to figure shit out on your own,
not to mention the fact that the game is only 22 KB so it's a really simple process to decompile
the game and just look shit up in the code if you -really- don't want to take the time to observe
shit in action to figure it out.

Ice Arrow is useful because it slows enemies down, without it your glass wizard in its paper
armour would be dead before it got two shots off. It is only because of ice arrow that your regen
is able to keep up with enemy attacks.

hay I'm new here, just saying this
smite is just an improved fireball
so if you have 0 smite, it'll be a simple fireball
fireball damage is:
10 times Fireball level + 2 times concentration level
if you HAVE smite, it'll be this damage instead: 10 times fireball level + 2 times concentration
level + wisdom + wisdom modifier + smite level
Smite takes 8 time units to be cast and fireball takes 12 / ((Quickspell Level / 10) + 1) units
of time
Both take from your mana 5 + Fireball level points

I just saw the main reason, when you're adding up after killing an enemy for a quest that takes
you to a "final boss" you're adding 2. Which probably means you're adding in 2 places the number
of enemies defeated for the quest. Remove it from one of them and it seems to be fine. But even
then it sounds like you're going at least 1 number further. That invalidates the quest.

It really shouldn't. If #monsters killed > #monsters killed required to complete quest then
questCompletion > questEnd because Kill() includes ++questcompletion only and you should get the
reward from the tavern.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)16:37 No.1385961
>>1385942
Something is changing your questEnd or something like that then, because it's happening all the
time here; every kill-the-boss quest the number goes up 2 by 2 and after it reaches the last
number, it fights once more and it goes ++questCompletion once again, making it, for example,
11/10
then returning to the tavern and not getting the reward, simply getting another quest from
there...
>> [_] Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)16:46 No.1385966
