ACTA is a treaty that creates international law with regards to intellectual property, for
instance, any information exchanged via the internet. problem is, it lets the government search
your computer for anything you might have "stolen," and limits free speech online. oh, yeah, and
it makes pirating stuff illegal.
also, only congress can declare war.

treaty will be declared unconstitutional in weeks if it's signed.

Too bad /b/ won't even be able to accomplish writing a strongly worded letter.

The last time /b/ tried something like this and to some extent succeeded, I thought it was epic.
Kinda how I would think it epic that a dying cancer patient would kamikaze a plane into a
Destroyer and doing minor damage.

Not to nitpick, but pirating stuff is already illegal. Shocking, I know.
But yeah, this is laughable.

Criminally illegal, shit for brains.

Also, there is already an international intellectual property organization, WIPO. ACTA is bad
mainly in that it aims to align all the worst copyright laws across the world. DMCA, three
strikes, making ISPs give up names, 90+ year copyright terms, etc. The rest of the world honestly
has more to lose than the US, since the US already has absurdly strong copyright protections.

I wasn't aware there was any other kind of illegal. Care to elaborate?

acta made simple.
they want to control you. what you see. what you hear. and anything you do they dont like...they
can punish you any way they see fit.
right now you are mostly free. if it passes. you must revolt. congress is not needed to declare
war on oppression.
