shotting

Backstabby hit level 9, Dipshit somehow made it to level 7, I'm not sure how I feel about that.
>> [_] friendsofsandwiches 09/12/10(Sun)00:38 No.1371319
It seems you gotta go with a mage. anything less doesn't do very well. the spells are just un
fucking belivable.
The only bad part is the mages get shit for HP, which when they start getting things that can hit
back... it gets nasty fast.
I also notice you need to see what are the first two spells they get. If they get crap ass spells
like concentration as the first one, fucking reroll.
My mage got quicken.
Currently she's at Quicken LX. Her dex is 68. She's up to oasis at level 8, and things hit and
hurt, but she's doing well enough with regen and heal finally to survive long enough to let the
poison5 kick in.
Things are literally 10x as many HP as she has. 32 HP, vs 300+ HP.

Don't listen to this person they are dumb.

Quicken is a pretty crap focus for a mage, my Necromancer is kicking ass and taking names with a
proper focus.
Also, it's impossible to tell what a mage will focus at creation, because they buy so many spells
randomly they can wait until level 3 to choose a focus and it can be from that spellbook they
-just- bought.

I made a wizard, and had Hypnosis and Quicken, but now she has Teleport XVI, and quicken and
hypnosis are at 1 still.

>>1371348
Yeah, that is the problem with mages.
If you want to properly choose a focus for a mage the only real way is to roll five or six at
once and just close windows as they make dumb choices.

That depends so much on your class and build that it's really difficult to give a simple answer.
Fighter-classes (the ones with mounts) tend to stall very quickly at Oasis/Dark Cave, which they
reach at... 8? 9?
Bards stall at Orcish Caves and don't even survive past that until level 9.
Mages will blow through everything.
Anyway, here's the list of zones and HP values that I've come across.
Tavern Cellar: 10 HP
The Plains: 11?HP
Crystal Forest: 16 HP
Crystal Lake: 25 HP
The Graveyard: 37 HP
Sandy Desert: 58 HP
The Orcish Caves: 85 HP
Dread Hills: 130 HP
Crystal River: 199 HP
Oasis: 304 HP
Dark Cave: 466 HP
Catacombs: 715 HP
Orcish Ship: 1099 HP
Enchanted Forest: 1693 HP
Cold Mountain: 2617 HP
Dead Forest: 4057 HP

Rogues/Archs/Rangers also don't have a stalling point (and Priests don't either, obviously). Can
verify this because I raced a regen arch and a regen rogue against a necro and they remained
comparable until level 9 at which point I closed the tab.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/12/10(Sun)03:08 No.1371434
>>1371432
Also the Arch dominated at lower levels, the Rogue started gaining EXP faster at higher. Go
figure.

Maybe you have a sucky spell focus. That'll stall any character.

I made a secondary, elven rouge, he's got mass dex, 51(+24), and ONE spell. Poison6. He doesn't
seem to be able to get past orkish cave, even thoough he's level 7.
Most of the problem is the lack of HP (17). without any regen, HP, or healing, he just can't
stick around long enough against monsters that can actually hit him.
Okay, he's in hills, and is kind of holding his own, but only barely.
I don't think he's going to make it through this quest, but stranger things have happend.

Basically any attack spell is worse for a rogue than EM or Resist or Regen would be, because
rogues do very high damage with attacks already and their weaknesses are low stats and low health
