Supernovas don't occur because of lack of hydrogen fusion. There are several advanced stages of fusion after hydrogen burn-out BEFORE a type-2 supernova is possible. Also, a star never uses up 100% of its hydrogen. 10-15% of it at most, all in the core. lrn2astronomy. also doesn't cover any of the other ways that black holes can be formed, including during the big bang etc, trolling the LHC, etc.
