Fun facts:
The White world is one affected by nuclear winter. There are five sites marked on the map, and
two nukes remaining. The blue orb was likely the only thing stopping the remaining two from
launching. By removing it, you just fucked up a lot someones day.
The Green world is an explosion frozen in time by the blue orb. By removing it, you cause the
explosion to unfreeze and continue, likely causing untold devastation.

The Blue world is a city that is poisoning its own water supply, and is likely using the blue orb
to purify the water that's recirculated back into their city. By removing it, you likely cause
the purification process to fail and the city now recirculates poisoned water endlessly, likely
killing themselves in the process.
The Red world is likely a parasite inside someone or a creature about to die. The blue orb was
likely stopping it's growth or death. By removing it, you guaranteed that it either finished
hatching and killing whoever it was infecting, or letting it bleed out and die.
tl;dr: You fuck up a lot of shit across four worlds in order to commit suicide.

Seems that way. My guess is the space station was designed/built to research/study the blue orbs
and the worlds they affected. But something happened, as seen by the damage to station.
The guy was likely the sole survivor and by himself for a long time. He then decides that he's
had enough, rescue is never coming, and the only option is to an hero. Then in a fit of rage, he
also decides to fuck with as many people as he can and so uses the blue orbs to power a spaceship
to fly himself into the moon.
At least, that's my take on it.
