well, it's not the worst idea I've ever seen.

Pretty standard solar-thermal generation. This one's just larger. The problem with it is the same
as with any other current renewable energy technology : how to store the energy for when it's not
there (IE night).
Still, thanks for sharing, OP.

during the night the nuclear plants could kick in/other ways of generating el that we have today.
this is still nothing more than a theory dream though. just building something that huge will
never happen

Lol, I love how they give it a spin that makes it seem like the thing being absolutely fuckhuge
is somehow a positive thing.

well if you have nuclear power plants in place then why do you need solar? Solar and nuclear do
not mesh well with each other.
Also they might be able to use thermal energy storage for something like this.
But other than that, this system is fairly limited, it's thermodynamic conversion efficiency is
pretty low, as solar cells get better this system will become outmoded.

have excess energy used to split water into oxygen and hydrogen, then use the hydrogen for power
at night.

why future why you make no progress

I chuckled when I saw this vid. See Armored Core 4 Missions Operation Ascension/Descent.
