So the message of this was that Ron Paul was being ignored by the media and made a lot of money
in campaign fundraising and he's still behind on the charts. For these reasons we apparently are
supposed to vote for him.
If you've ever sat down and read any essays or documents by Ron Paul then you'd know he's great
at sounding like he knows what he talks about but when he gets to the meat of the argument it's
obvious that he has no idea what he's doing. He wants to you agree with him so you'll agree with
any idea that he puts forth.
I agree with him that the Federal Reserve is a crooked scheme but replacing it with the gold
standard will actually just bankrupt our country and destroy all of our import/export trades.

The war on terror has failed. Military withdrawal from the wars that we're currently in would
save money and (I think) improve US world image.
The was on drugs has failed. Regulation of dangerous substances and practices drastically
decreases the dangers associated with them and keeps money out of the hands of criminals. Note: I
don't do ANY drugs.
He is also a proponent for cutting foreign aid to other nations, most notably Israel. Not sure
whether or not that would have longstanding negative impacts in the Middle East or elsewhere, but
it seems like a sound plan. The United States should not be siphoning its capital into other
nations.

I admit the thing with the FED is a little insane, but I don't think he would try or successfully
be able to re-implement the gold standard.
And, most importantly of all, he has 20 years of actions that display his character and show his
integrity for his actions; IE voting against the Patriot act, voting not to go to war in Iraq,
warning the congress of the housing bubble.
He'll never get elected, though. And that is a shame. If he were elected as the Republican
Candidate for 2012 I feel like he and Obama could have some really good dialogues. And those
dialogues could bring forth new thoughts and ideas.
As it stands it's going to be Romney and Obama going on about silly party shit. Hurr Durr.

Paul's position on science funding is just retarded - his proposed budget would shut down every
single federally funded research agency with the exception of programs in the DoD.
That means: NASA, NOAA, NIST, NSF, DEOS, USGS, NIH, ARS, etc etc etc - All of them gone.
You're talking about putting several hundred thousand of the country's most accomplished
researchers out of work (on top of the several million who would be unemployed as a result of
Paul dissolving five federal departments) along with shutting down the lion's share of serious
scientific research in the United States.
All of which will cut annual federal spending by less than 2%.
