and NPCs cursing a lot.

I guess moot finally found a NSFW advertiser.
I like how this duck search engine promotes NOT tracking anything but each click is obviously
tracked since you go through their own domain to get to a result
example:
http://duckduckgo.com/l/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hellomagazine.com%2F
notice that google does this too:
http://www.google.com/url?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hellomagazine.com%2F
cut stuff away from the last link because it was long as hell so it wont work now but you get it.
look the next time you click a link in google. it annoys me

you fucking idiot. >>1766125 is correct. why the hell would they link to google.com/redirectio
nURL instead of directly to the result UNLESS THEY TRACK THE CLICK? and no, its not for ranking
the links. first of all that would be a horrible method of ranking sites. second, its not in
googles specifications that sites that gets more clicks on the results page get ranked by it.
THEY. JUST. TRACK. YOUR. CLICKS.
further proof of that is that seven years back or something google didnt have all results-clicks
pass through their server. then they started having it for some (mainly the top). and today they
track all clicks.
same thing why youtube urls look so different all the time. they want to know where you came
from, how you and people behave when browsing the site. they track the shit out of you
you are the one that fucking suck at internet sheesh
you may now claim that youve trolled me, but i know better. you were just uneducated

You're the idiot.
%3A%2F%2F are escaped characters. Specifically, ://, and a trailing /. There is no tracking code
in either of those URLs.

I mean, let me clarify what my beef is. I'll do it since I have so much respect for you moot and
what you do here on 4chan. I am glad you finally found NSFW ads. I'd never call you an idiot, I
was just upset that I was told to shut the fuck up by >>1766130 (which might have been you I
dunno, sorry if thats the case since I wouldnt call you an idiot).
When you see a result in google or whatever, that result does not lead directly to the URL. It
goes through their server and they then redirect you to the URL.
When you land on their server they track that you have clicked on that link.
Ill keep this short since this thread might 404 any second. Typical that I would notice your
reply so late.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/16/12(Sun)15:28 No.1766303
Yeah i don't care for the duck ads as much as the Japanese porn ads
>> [_] Anonymous 09/16/12(Sun)15:29 No.1766304
Of course I have no proof that they use this info to track yours or mine Internet behavior,
perhaps only google or duckduckgo use the click-tracking for statistical purposes and user
behavioural studies.
But it's 100% certain that they do in fact track the clicks on links. As I said, might not be to
track you specifically, but the click is tracked nontheless.
If they didn't track clicks they would link directly to a search result, not have the click go
through their server and then be redirected to the target destination.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/16/12(Sun)15:35 No.1766306
Also I'd like to mention that I know that %3A%2F%2F is escaped characters. They don't need to use
anything in the URL to track you, they simply use your IP number + cookies, probably combined
with what they can gather from the user agent as well (firefox/ie/chrome, version numbers, os) to
identify that you have clicked on a link. Of course this is a 95% accurate tracking method since
there are people that has disabled cookies and that share the internet with others.
However if you are logged in on for example Gmail while searching on google they are able to
track you with 100% certainty (unless your friend uses your computer).
Of course I have no proof that they are tracking anything, I'm just speculating. But why send a
click through their server if not to use that info to track either stats or behaviour or you as a
person (or all three).
>> [_] Anonymous 09/16/12(Sun)15:51 No.1766313
I have to go afk for a while now and this thread will undoubtedly expire while I'm away. I just
hope I cleared some stuff up. I understand that people can't know everything, I just get really
ticked off when someone tells me to "stfu" and don't even bother to say what he thought I had
wrong in his post. Normally I can keep my cool but I kinda lost it when he said I suck at "how
Internet work", when in fact that is one of the things I know most about.
God I love being Anonymous on 4chan. Sayonara!

Huh, weird. moot bothered to correct someone on /f/.
I guess I'll accept the duck ads, but they do stand out more than the uh... j-list ones. I guess
I just got super used to the others.
