  moot specifically addressed this and the pass is tied to your ip address, if an
  advertiser/spammer is dumb enough to buy a pass and post with it, he just gave 4chan a free 20
  bucks cause his ass getting banned = losing the pass as well. moot is not an idiot.

  i would have done the same thing. seriously, it's like a cash cow fell into his lap. first of all
  captcha remains to prevent spam. but some people can pay to bypass it. however they still cant
  spam since they will lose their pass, thus losing money (meaning spammers won't buy passes).
  meanwhile the pass doesn't actually give much benifit over regular users, so regulars
  (non-passes) won't feel mistreated.

  not only does it give people the "satisfaction" of "helping" 4chan, but moot can actually claim
  that he didnt implement it for the money but only because people asked him too! best thing is
  that since Anonymous suggested it noone can know if it was really moot himself that came up with
  the idea in the first place and suggested it to himself and was leading the campaign for it over
  at /q/ under a different name

  all i wish is that he removes the huge letters everywhere that advertises the thing. the small
  "4chan Pass users can bypass this CAPTCHA. [Learn More]" text below the captcha box is enough.
  Though he should really rephrase that sentence so that it doesn't remind people that there are
  privileged users that doesn't need to type the captcha. especially "4chan pass" needs to be
  removed, it reminds people too much of "4chan Gold Account"

  i wonder though, if it was so easy for him to get a VISA/MasterCard payment acceptance service
  for the site, why didn't he do something like this sooner? for example, you could pay to download
  all the files in a thread in a zip file or something. must be many more ways to earn money
  without any effort from this site

  You obviously don't go to /q/ at all. People were begging to donate for months before /q/ was
  even re-opened and one of the first things /q/ suggested was the captcha bypass, to which moot
  replied "well it's not donating, so I'll consider it" or something along those lines.
