I can walk through walls in OoT too without using tools. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)12:58 No.1746324 >>1746296 So if I use the budget overflow glitch in the SNES Sim City to get infinity dollars, it's not cheating because I didn't use a Game Genie? >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)13:13 No.1746335 >>1746324 Correct. It's not cheating because you aren't using any 3rd party peripherals to modify the game. You're exploiting a glitch in the coding, just as this is an exploit of the games, apparently shitty, coding. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)13:19 No.1746336 >>1746335 Cheating isn't limited to using third-party peripherals, you know... >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)13:49 No.1746359 >>1746336 Those people define it as that. They don't view exploiting shitty programming as cheating. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:05 No.1746366 >>1746359 Well, it certainly leads to entertaining videos. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:09 No.1746368 "Cheating" is either when you introduce a code that instantly gives you access to something that you shouldn't or adding something (hardware or software) to the game in order to achieve some feat. However, exploiting engine glitches is not cheating, so clipping and gravity fuckups are fine. Of course, typing codes that allow you to clip or fly is cheating. You have to exploit the whole engine, not remove a part of it. So while typing a code to get a super weapon is cheating, Finding a weird place inworld where clipping lets you reach that super weapon in the room it's supposed to be found is not cheating. Clear enough ? >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:15 No.1746373 >>1746368 That depends on your definition of the word cheating. Even Wikipedia says that cheating "can also be realised by exploiting software bugs." >> [_] Kim 08/18/12(Sat)14:22 No.1746381 When someone starts a contest, there are different rules set up, if one of those rules dont say "NO EXPLOITING" then it is allowed to use those exploits and will not be seen as cheating. also theres a reason why there is the word "bugusing" and the word "cheating" >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:23 No.1746383 >>1746373 wikipedia != sda That kind of stuff is obviously context-sensitive. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:23 No.1746384 Most people would consider this kind of exploitation cheating, in the speedrun community they draw the line on outside forces on the code. Just a difference of definition that can confuse some people. >> [_] Anonymous 08/18/12(Sat)14:26 No.1746386 >>1746384 If we're talking in the context of speedruns, then there's no problem.
