So what do you guys think? Does it have potential? Should i keep going with it?

Rope mechanics are unworkable

Unworkable in which way?
Are you unable to land the hooks on the rings? I've considered to expand the hitbox on that, just
wasn't sure.
I've also looked at making the hook home in on the spot you had your mouse at when you clicked
(rather than home in on your mouse even if it moves), but that felt weird.

Well, if the camera moves fucking constantly, and you can't hook onto the next hook mid-swinging
it's a little fucking difficult to click such a small area with the camera going apeshit.

not much of an artist are you.
programming could be worked on

i see. I don't find the hook too hard to land, personally. I'll check for more input though. If
people agree with you i'll casualize it.
Thanks for the feedback.

Seems to work fine, just please make a way of using the wasd keys instead of the arrow keys

>Not much of an artist are you
You are correct sir, i am very bad at drawing.
>programming could be worked on
Yeah, im sure it can. This is my first project after completing the kongregate shootrials, so
obviously it's not on a professional level yet.
Are you thinking of anything specific (ai, physics, etc)?
Were you perhaps talking about level design? If so, the current build is mostly just a sandbox to
make things work and test at the same time, but i also added some textboxes to have the three
levels serve as a sort of tutorial.
>excuses
Anyway, constructive criticism is cool, thank you for replying.
If anyone have concrete/specific tips or whatever, that would be swish as fuck.

Yeah, been thinking wanting to do that myself. Im just using the arrow keys for now because im
too much of a lazy fuck to google the syntax for listening for a W/A/D press instead of
up/left/right press. Will definitely fix it soon, though.

Allright, doesn't seem like anyone has anything to add. I'm out for now, will come back later if
thread is still alive.

not a bad proto the initial idea is always the hard part the coding comes with time. I think the
rope needs to be longer with easier phsicsIm not a real fan of being able to change direction in
mid jump, bu that a personal taste thing . I say great skeleton you have here some fleshing out
and it will be a good game..

I've noticed that there's lag in the larger maps. You don't have to tell me, I already know why.
You are rendering every tile regardless of whether or not it's on screen. Only draw what the
player can see, and you'll see a massive improvement in performance.

This has potential, but you're gonna need the help of a graphic designer because boy does this
look like shite.
>> [_] Anonymous07/06/12(Fri)12:28No.1714273
Seriously, is this you elementary school project?
>> [_] Anonymous07/06/12(Fri)12:29No.1714275
Why not just model it like double rope? Give your character two ropes. If the second one
attaches, he automatically drops the first. It would make things much simpler and negate the
camera issue.

You can walk off a ledge and jump in midair
>> [_] Anonymous07/06/12(Fri)12:34No.1714277
op look up and decompile 'double wires' for your swing mechanic
as it is is totally impossible to complete the stage with the ropes and i'm surprised you even
bothered uploading that shit.
