bit

That was me like 4 years ago.
In a month you'll miss all your favourite videos and go looking for them again.

This is one of the few Tedx talks I've seen that isn't shit. I do wonder about the credibility of
the study though.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)07:31 No.1907288
Seems pretty valid, in my case. I'm not sure I'll suddenly be pubis deep in vagina 4-5 months
after having stopped looking for porn, but I'll probably be a better, more productive person for
having done so.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)07:50 No.1907292
Fuck it, I'd better fap like a free man and be myself than be some "active" goof who is guilty
for his own sexuality and desires
And yes, no scientific proof whatsoever so i'd better not go into another "some form of sexual
activity is bad" bullshit
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)07:55 No.1907294

>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:02 No.1907297
What's the deal with the girls then?
Or with the gay porn? Or with futas/traps?
Or what if I usually fap only to my waifu?
Seriously this study is just a raw conservative bullshit

You don't need to cut it all for good, but don't do it daily.
I've been having those symptoms since I started living alone, truth hurts man. I'm quitting
hardcore porn, hentai is all I need.

>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:29 No.1907307
I've just finally watched this.
Fuck it, seriosly, you could place any nice thing in the place of "porn" that you are having
regulary and say "this is an addiction, all of your problems are because of this". Like "movies",
"music", "videogames", even things like "sport", "work" or "sex" itself. And when your life is a
shithole somebody could easily say "oh, it's all because of the nice things that you are having,
stop liking what you like and quit everything that makes your life bearable and suddenly you
reach a fucking nirvana".
But the point is that you have anxiety and depression because of the things that cause it, not
because of things that you do to deal with it.
And this shit sounds like a religious rhetoric to me.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:30 No.1907308
Thanks, OP.
That was certainly interesting.
I tend not to agree with it since even the new "control group" is been tainted. It's like
questioning smokers, who've been smoking for 10 years. They're going to have more cancer than
all-life non-smokers and they're going to blame everything on their addiction.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:42 No.1907311
>>1907307
as long as you're able to "compartmentalize" your life, you can have any number of fucked up
"addictions" and still be a contributing member of society.
trust me, i know.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:44 No.1907312
ah well, gee whiz, you hear that, /f/? ALL our problems are because of porn! i guess we'll just
have to get rid of our stashes, huh? boy, oh boy, i can't till my life turns into sunshine, gum
drops and candy cane rainbows because i stopped jerking it over the internet!
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)08:50 No.1907315
Why everything that could be named an "addiction" is suddenly so negative?
For example, I surelly love sleeping a lot, but it doesn't mean that every my problem is because
of too much sleeping and "sleeping addiction" and if i quit sleeping I'd be happy. Of course
every problem could be somehow abstractly related to it but seriously it just means nothing.
I'd be more happy if I deal with shit that doesn't allow me to sleep as much as I want, than quit
sleeping.
Masturbation and sex in general are the same.

You will. I did the same thing after seeing this the first time. It's complete bullshit. Did
nothing for me besides enhance my random boners and give me a hair trigger. I edge a lot, so I
can actually last longer in bed if I fap to porn frequently. Tried this and ended up humiliating
myself with a girl.

Everytime you orgasm you release dopamine, activating the pleasure center of your brain. It acts
as a physiological rewards system for behavior. Nearly everything you do recently up to that
point gets flagged as "this is good, do this again." And you want to go cold turkey? When that
steady supply of dopamine suddenly dries up and you have no chemical reinforcement for behavior,
all that future progress not only goes unrewarded, but you set yourself up for relapse.

>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)13:38 No.1907441
I fail to see how dopamine released by porn differs from any other activity done for enjoyment.
What I take away from this isn't so much that porn is bad so much as human society is based on
cultivating constructive dopamine addiction.

Yes, if you stop watching porn, then go back to it, it seems less dull.
If you swim all the time because you love it and then stop, go back to it 5 years later, it feels
a lot more fun then you can remember it being. Stop swimming, its an addiction.
>> [_] Anonymous 03/08/13(Fri)15:23 No.1907511
Fuck this shit, i'd say it's much worse for your mental health to opress your natural desires,
especialy sexual libido. It could lead to some serious neurotic shit.
The only good thing that could came out of reducing your fap is increasing the pleasure of your
orgasms and simply fap/sex when they are less frequent, and making you more aroused in between.
But it's like your own subjective choise and there is absolutely no necessity to enforce any
order on yourself if you don't like it or if it is uncomfortable to you.
